Pages per sheet

Print multiple pages per sheet

Lecture slides to take notes on, a 40-page script as study material, or simply less paper: instead of one page per sheet you want two, four or six. You can do it right in the print dialog – or as a finished PDF that looks the same everywhere.

Get started: open the PDF, pick the number, save a finished PDF with several pages per sheet. Free, no upload.

Pages per sheet

How many pages per sheet?

Pages per sheetA4 pages are …Good for
2scaled to about 70 %, landscapeText that should stay readable; scripts
4scaled to about 50 %, portraitSlide handouts, presentations with large type
6about 40 %Slides for revision, overviews
9about 33 %Flashcard overviews, image collections
16about 25 %Overview for sorting only

Rule of thumb: normal 11-point type is comfortable at 2 pages per sheet, at 4 only with good eyes. Slides with large type handle 6.

In the print dialog: Windows, Mac, Chrome

That works well when you print yourself. But if the file goes to others – classmates, course participants, a print shop – or your device doesn't offer the option, a finished PDF is better.

2, 4, 6, 8, 9 or 16 pages per sheet as a PDF – perfectly sharp, with frames and page numbers, no upload.

As a finished PDF – in three steps

  1. Open the PDF. Drop the file into Pages per Sheet.
  2. Pick the number. 2, 4, 6, 8, 9 or 16. The tool picks orientation and grid (e.g. 2 × 3 or 3 × 2) so pages come out as large as possible. Paper, margins, gap, frames and order can be adjusted; the preview shows the first sheets.
  3. Save. “Save PDF” – the result prints normally at one page per sheet.

The original pages are embedded as vector graphics, not images. Text stays perfectly sharp and searchable, and the file stays small.

Slide handouts from PowerPoint

PowerPoint can print “Handouts” with 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 or 9 slides per page; the 3-slide version has lines for notes. If you only have the presentation's PDF – say from a learning portal – use 4 or 6 pages per sheet with frames. “Original page number below” helps you find slides again later.

Frequently asked questions

How do I print multiple PDF pages on one sheet?

In the print dialog under “Pages per sheet” (Chrome, Edge, Mac) or “Multiple” (Acrobat Reader) – or as a finished PDF with the Pages per Sheet tool.

Will the pages get blurry?

No. The original pages are embedded as vector graphics; text stays sharp and searchable.

How many pages per sheet are still readable?

Normal text is fine at 2 pages per sheet, tight at 4. Slides with large type handle 6.

Can I change the order?

Yes, by rows (left to right) or by columns (top to bottom).

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The PDF is rebuilt in your browser.

Can I choose A3 paper?

Yes. A4, A3, A5 and Letter are available, portrait, landscape or automatic.

How is this different from a booklet?

With pages per sheet, pages sit next to each other in order. For a booklet to fold they're sorted differently – that's what PDF Booklet Studio is for.
