2. General information
This notice describes which personal data may be processed when using the Melon Tools website, for what purposes that processing takes place, and on which legal basis it is carried out.
Personal data is any information that can be used to identify a person, for example a name, email address, or technical usage data.
3. Website access and server log files
When the website is accessed, the server processes technically necessary connection data. This may include, in particular, IP address, date and time of access, requested page, transferred data volume, browser type, and operating system.
This processing is carried out to provide the website securely, to analyze errors, and to prevent misuse on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
4. Anonymous usage statistics and ratings
To see which pages and tools are used, the website counts page views and certain actions (for example clicks on buttons, downloads and copying a result). For each page view, only the page, the date and hour, and a rough label for where the visit came from are added to a counter – for example “Google”, “internal” or the domain of the referring website, never the full address. No cookies are set, and no IP address, browser details or other identifier is stored with these counters; they cannot be linked to a person.
If you rate a tool with the stars in the bar at the bottom of the page, only the tool and the number of stars are sent to the server and added to an anonymous counter; no IP address, cookie or other identifier is stored with the rating. Your browser remembers in local storage that you have already rated the tool, so you are not asked again.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is to improve the website and its tools.
5. Processing of your files in the tools
The tools listed on the start page (for example for PDFs, images or calculations) process the files and values you enter directly in your browser. They are not uploaded to or stored on the server.
6. Externally loaded content
Fonts are hosted on this server; no connection to Google Fonts is made. To run some of the tools, program libraries are loaded from external servers. Your browser connects directly to these servers, which therefore receive your IP address and technical connection data:
- Program libraries from cdnjs (cdnjs.cloudflare.com), provided by Cloudflare, Inc., USA, which is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
- Program libraries and data files from the public content delivery network jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net) – for some tools, for example text recognition (OCR) or image conversion.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is a reliable and fast provision of the website and its tools.
7. Voluntary support via Stripe
If you support Melon Tools with a payment, you are redirected to a payment page of Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., 1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Dublin 2, Ireland. The payment data you enter there is processed by Stripe under its own privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy). I only receive the information required to handle the payment, such as the amount and, if provided, your name and email address. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
8. Contact by email
If you contact me by email, the information you provide will be processed for the purpose of handling your inquiry and any follow-up questions. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
9. Local storage in the browser
The provided tools may store settings in the browser using local storage so that working states and personal configurations can be retained. This storage takes place locally on your device.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR or, where the storage is required for the function requested by the user, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
10. Retention period
Personal data is stored only for as long as necessary for the respective purposes or as long as statutory retention obligations apply. Data stored locally in the browser remains there until it is deleted by the user or removed by the browser.
11. Rights of data subjects
- Right of access
- Right to rectification
- Right to erasure
- Right to restriction of processing
- Right to object
- Right to data portability
- Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
